First Christmas shopping event for BEAM!

With Christmas fast approaching, I have taken the opportunity to book on to my first Christmas shopping event! BEAM has signed up to four late night shopping evenings at the Station in Richmond, North Yorkshire.  These will run from Nov 25th until Dec 16th, every Thursday from 16:00 to 20:00.

The station is a majestic venue, and as you may have guessed from the name, used to be the old railway station here in Richmond.  The first train started running from here in 1846!

Over the decades, tourists, soldiers, farm produce, coal, flagstones, cattle, sheep and horses came and went, but the station eventually closed in March 1969.

The Station was renovated in 2007 as part of the  Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust.  The station is a wonderful asset to Richmond, with a soaring high roof over the restaurant area, giving it a sense of great space and light.  It is unique and houses several small businesses including a micro brewery, a delicious bakery (The Angel's Share) and an artisan chocolate shop.  Yes, this place is most definitely not good for the waistline! And did I mention the ice cream parlour?!! It also has a small shop containing lots of special items from other artisan makers, including jewellery, bags, blankets, cards and pottery.

The Station has regular art exhibitions and it is always interesting to stroll the platform and balcony, taking in all the wonderful talent.

Honestly, there is so much more... Three cinema screens, a second hand book stand for donations and regular events throughout the year. This really is one of my favourite places to be.

So, if you like the sound of all these things under one roof, take a visit and I am sure you will love it! You can also walk down the old railway line to cross the wild River Swale. This takes you round to Easby Abbey, an English Heritage site that is great for hide and seek, picnics and marvelling at the architecture and history.

If you would like to come and find some exquisite artisan soap and Christmas gifts sets, why not head over one evening?  This is an opportunity to buy some luxury eco friendly gifts...the beautiful scents of BEAM's natural soaps will not disappoint your loved ones. There will be lots of other treasures to find too!  Father Christmas will also be in attendance in his grotto on Nov 25th... I'm sure he will be tasting the mulled wine and mince pies on offer too.!
